Staverne Miller is the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF), having been appointed by Governor Maura T. Healey in 2024. With over 30 years of experience in social work, Miller has held various leadership positions within DCF, including Acting Commissioner and Assistant Commissioner for Permanency. She is deeply committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and has played a vital role in developing policies that prioritize family permanency services. As a passionate advocate for inclusion, she co-chaired an agency-wide workgroup focused on addressing disparities in policy initiatives. Miller holds a master’s degree in social work from Simmons University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Lincoln University. She is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) and serves as the president and board member for the Wonderfund, as well as a board member for the Children’s Trust Fund.
