Melinda has a BA in Human Services from Ottawa University and a BS and MSW from Washburn University. She has worked in many areas of child welfare including Family Group Decision Making, Abuse & Neglect Investigations, Domestic Violence, Training and Adoption. Though most of her career has been spent working for the state of Kansas, she also managed several programs through Kansas Children’s Service League (KCSL), a private, non-profit. These programs included Adopt Kansas Kids, Foster Home Services, the Supporting School Attendance and From Heart to Home Infant Adoption program. Melinda has served as an Adjunct Professor at Washburn University in both Human Services and Social Work Departments. She enjoys reading, camping, and trail-riding, playing with her grand people and doing her best to learn and share the Cherokee (ᏣᎳᎩ) language of her Father and ancestors.
